“FAM Chat” Coming to Seeds of Faith Tonight!

Since I’ve had very positive responses from the FAM Fellowship members I’ve discussed it with so far, I’d like to try something new on the FAM website tonight. The plan is to start hosting “FAM Chat” every Friday night (day and time are flexible, so please give me your feedback on that), maybe beginning around 9:00p.m. EST, which will be a time for FAM Fellowship members to communicate with each other in “real time”…right here on the public site. I’ll be asking members to suggest topics of interest, and then I’ll choose the topic from those submitted, write a short blurb on it, and post it as a password protected page here in Seeds of Faith. And the password will be posted on the private fellowship sites (both men and women) on the “News and Information” page. That means that ONLY FAM Fellowship members can participate, and the “chat” is not visible to anyone but fellowship members. Some of the other details we can discuss are whether or not we want to archive the FAM Chat pages (without password protection on the men’s and ladies’ fellowship sites) or delete them. There are quite a few options for something like this, and since tonight’s chat comes without much notice, we’ll make it a time to discuss some of the options and decide exactly how we want it to work. SO, I hope to see a lot of the fellowship members here tonight! And IF I get some good suggestions for a topic soon enough, after discussing how we want “FAM Chat” to work, we’ll move onto one of them.

After I post it, FAM Fellowship members can get the password from the fellowship sites (at the top of the “News and Information”) page, and then click on the link to “Seeds of Faith” that will be right below the password. Then click on the “FAM Chat” link at the top of the page, where you’ll be asked to enter the password. And then you can read the “blurb” and post responses (if you’re not already registered on the public site, it will ask you to register as a user). I’ll be moderating the “chat”, so your comments will be posted immediately, allowing members to “chat” back and forth in real time. I’ll include a link to email me about any problems, and my phone number, on the password protected page, so we should be able to work out any “kinks”. I’m really looking forward to this, and hope it will give all of us a chance to get to know each other much better, and be blessed and encouraged by each other!

I believe that we should leave the chat responses on so that those who are struggling with what the topic was can check out the responses later and may find the help they were looking for. They may have been away or not logged on at the time. Just a thought. Diane

Since that seems to be how we all feel about it, I’ll leave the password protected pages on the public site, so both men and women can add comments if they want to later. And I’ll create new categories on both sites for “FAM Chat”, where the links and passwords for each chat session will be posted, which will allow new fellowship members to view previous sessions and the responses added later by other members from either of the private FAM Fellowship websites. And in the future, instead of being posted on “News And Information”, the password and link for the current FAM Chat session will be posted at the top of the “FAM Chat” page.

I’m also interested in getting feedback concerning the best time. I kept it open until midnight last night, but will make myself available later if our members on the west
coast need more time to participate. So please give me some feedback about the schedule. And a very special thanks to those of you who participated last night. We did pretty good for such short notice, so we’ll plan to be back at the same time next week unless we come up with a better schedule! And don’t forget to suggest topics, which you can do here or by calling or sending me an email message.
