Thanksgiving from The Prodigal Perspective

(Note from Linda: I’m sure the following message from “The Prodigal Perspective” will be a blessing and comfort to many who might feel discouraged today by thoughts of their spouses having a wonderful day with NCPs, because that’s just not the way it happens. MNO (member name omitted) is now standing for the restoration of her covenant marriage after having a non-covenant marriage annulled earlier this year, and we are all greatly blessed by her insight and the heart God has given her to share the word of her testimony so powerfully to help comfort and encourage others. So be blessed and encouraged!
To man belong the plans of the heart, but from God comes the reply of the tongue. – Proverbs 16:1)

I wanted to take the time this morning to wish all of my FAMM family a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I know some of you will not be spending Thanksgiving with your spouse, so I want to give you some encouragement and assure you that your prodigal IS thinking of you today. They are thinking about all the previous Thanksgivings spent with their family. They are thinking about traditions that were started when you first became one. They are thinking about you!

Last year, I spent Thanksgiving alone with my new husband. We were not invited to any family gatherings as many family members were still upset about our divorces and non-covenant marriage. It was a very difficult day for me as I remembered all the times I had traveled three hours away to spend Thanksgiving with my husband’s family. And the thought of him driving there alone for the first time in over a decade was almost more than I could bear.

I pray for each and every one of us today, that our spouses will be touched by the Holy Spirit and know that they are loved and missed. And please know, that you are too!

God bless all of you. I am so thankful to have you in my life.

This is such a wonderful, and timely reminder to us all. Praises and Thanks-“giving” is what this weekend and today is all about. Let us give praise…we have so much! And let’s give thanks that we are called to God’s love for us and our absent spouses. And if your alone this evening, may I suggest reading favorite portions of scripture aloud! And add some praise music in the background and you will be blessed.
