A Message and Prayer for Unity and Reconciliation through the Power of the Cross

The following message and prayer was posted on the ladies’ fellowship site yesterday by Alex, and since I know it will be very encouraging for anyone standing for marriage restoration, I greatly appreciate her permission to share it here, and I’ll be adding the prayer to the prayer section of the site in the next day or so..

“Today God led me to Joshua and the story of Jericho’s walls falling. Then he led me to Ephesians 2:14-16. These verses refer to God’s plan to unite Jews and Gentiles under the blood of Jesus and therefore unify them but as I read, I felt the Spirit telling me to claim this for my marriage and I claim it for all of our marriages. This is the scripture: For he himself (Christ) is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility…his purpose was to create one new man out of the two, thus making peace and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross.

Lord, I ask that each of us would enter our Promised Land with faith in you, not looking to our circumstances. I pray that as you did for the Israelites, Lord, please go before us and let the walls crumble entirely by your power. Lord, remove the barriers in our own hearts and the hearts of our spouses so that we may first and foremost be reconciled to you. But also Lord, show mercy and grace and make us again one in body, mind and spirit with our spouses. Break off and nullify the unnatural bonds our spouses may have with other women and men and with the world. Lord, I pray our spouses would have no peace in mind or body until they have been convicted by the Holy Spirit and surrender themselves to you, confessing and repenting of all manner of sin and neglect. As our spouses repent Lord, keep us in your perfect love and will that we might minister to our husbands and wives and further confirm for them the unconditional love that waits for them both with you and in their marriages. Lord, as we stand for our marriages, help us to not be afraid to cry out our pain in your open court. Help us to remember that you see our innermost hearts and let us not be tricked by the enemy into feeling guilty for our suffering. As standing wives and husbands, Lord, strengthen us and purify us each day so that we will not harbor any anger, resentment, bitterness or unforgiveness towards you, our spouses or those they are sinning with. Lord, this is our genuine prayer. You know our pain, our weariness. We ask that each day you will show incredible faithfulness and love by equipping us to stand. I pray for peace for each one of my standing sisters and brothers. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Claim this for your husbands and wives, Romans 14:4 To his own master a man stands or falls. AND HE WILL STAND, because the LORD is able to make him stand.

This is an amazing confirmation for me….last night I was praying and weeping for mine and everybody’s marriages on FAM…..one thing that kept on coming up in my praying was to do with walls….it wasn’t very eloquent…I was asking God to tear down the walls and remove the walls……everything to do with walls. The Holy Spirit is so good and He is leading us into something huge…I am so blessed to be a part of this fellowship.

Thank you for this it really ministered to my heart today . It was just what I needed to hear and I stand with you all and pray for all the walls to be brought down and hearts to be softened. I feel that the doors are opening and restoration is in the process of happening in all our lives. Have a blessed day and thank you for these words from God to my heart. Diane

Peter, you know I just LOVE the way God is always so faithful to confirm! And since we see Him do it over and over again, it’s a total wonder we’d ever doubt He’s handling the really BIG stuff just as faithfully! I’m glad this was so encouraging to you too…I know it really ministered to me in a huge way, especially since it was SO much on point for a new development in the situation concerning the lady it was for! ONLY GOD!!! And, Diane, you know my thoughts and prayers are with you today, but I know Jesus Christ will shine and be glorified in you tonight! So I can’t wait to hear the praise reports! Love You Both, Linda

Linda, this prayer was just what I needed. As Christians, we have so much hope and then of course the devil rears his ugly head and tries to plant that tiny seed of doubt. This prayer just connected to my very soul. I keep a folder of wonderful prayers that I get/find and this one was certainly added and has now been part of my devotional time for the last two days. Thank you so very much for sharing.

IT IS AMAZING…..How the Lord is working even now on our behalf. The verses confirm the scriptures : ” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they shall become ONE flesh”. So they are no longer TWO but ONE , therefore what God has joined together let man not separate. I was meditating on those verses until I can find a confirmation on what God wanted to tell me. WE, standers are ONE Flesh with our Prodigal husbands or wives, the Lord is looking at us still as ONE although the other is not praying or standing for the restoration of their marriage, so we represent the other person and we are ONE in the eyes of the Lord. It is written. We are not TWO but ONE. When the wall will fall we will still be as ONE Flesh.Thank you for sharing your message.

Eve, if you visit the site much at all, you will already know that one of the things about God that NEVER ceases to amaze me and totally blows me away at times, is His faithfulness to confirm the message He wants to give us, and to give us confirmation whenever we ask for it! So thank you for sharing this to let Alex know how much you appreciate the Lord working through her to clarify that issue for you. Be blessed and encouraged!

Dear Lord, I pray for your blessings, grace and strength for Eve as she stands in faith and obedience to you for the restoration of her marriage. And we thank you for the assurance we have that YOUR WORD NEVER RETURNS VOID AND THAT EVE’S MARRIAGE WILL BE RESTORED IN THE NAME OF JESUS. Amen.
